"I prefer to Paint people and the environment
in my village, and sharing Beautiful moments with them. I like to depict the
happiness one can derive from the small things in life. I try to bring joy to my people through my Colours”.
LAXMAN
AELAY
“ Perhaps many of
you already know a lot about me but for those who don’t I am Laxman Aelay! My Schooling was
done at a little village close to my home at Kadirenigudam,
Nalgonda distict, in telangana. There after I went on to do my college in a
nearby town during which time I was invariably called to do all the scientific
diagrams and drawings for the science lab of my college. I visited a friend of
mine one day and saw an advertisement in the newspaper for an illustrator’s job
with “Eenadu Publications” and when I applied, was oppointed for the position. It was here that I read a book
on modern art which sparked my interest for the contemporary style of painting,
and from there on it has been no looking back to any other subject.
Interacting with many new people I was informed
that there was a specialised degree for art, and this
made me do my BFA at JNTU. I worked part time with the film industry mainly
with Ram Gopal Verma and
some others as a publicity designer and art director to earn my livelihood,
especially since I was married with two kids to support and studying in college
also. I have also Illustrated for over 300 hundred
authors and publishers from the poetry and literary fields, and a lot of this
had a strong bearing on my choosing the figurative style depicting the rural
people of telangana.
Life
decided that I should quit my job and go into full time contemporary painting
which I am doing till date. Currently I am also striving to improve on my
techniques and style the results of which only the future can tell.
I
have put together the images of my works chronologically over the years and am
showing them to you on the screen today.
I
sincerely hope you will enjoy the evening spent with me.
Thank
you and enjoy the show. “
